Brenda Schell has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Internal Audit Director. Schell has 30 years of experience within the audit department at Financial Institutions, Inc. and Five Star Bank and has held positions of increasing responsibility. She currently oversees all audit activities throughout the organization and reports directly to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.
Schell earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance from Ithaca College and maintains the following certifications: Certified Bank Auditor, Certified Information Systems Auditor and Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC).
She is active in the Wyoming County community and currently serves as Treasurer of Warsaw Youth Baseball. She previously served on the board of the Wyoming County United Way and has supported various youth sports and school parent organizations, either as treasurer or board member. Schell is based at Five Star Bank’s Headquarters in Warsaw.

 Kathryn Q. Lewis
Senior Compliance Officer

Kathryn Q. Lewis has been promoted to Senior Compliance Officer. She is responsible for oversight and administration of the Bank’s Compliance Management and Fair and Responsible Banking Programs and administers the Regulation O Program.
Lewis joined Five Star Bank in 2018 as Fair & Responsible Banking Compliance Manager and she has more than 10 years of experience in financial, compliance, marketing and real estate processes. Prior to joining Five Star, she served in compliance roles with Citigroup, M&T Bank and First Niagara Bank.
Lewis earned a Master of Arts Degree in Organizational Leadership from Medaille College. She is a past mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters in Buffalo and has volunteered in support of the City Roots Community Land Trust and the Teacher’s Desk. Lewis is based at Five Star Bank’s Regional Administrative Center in downtown Rochester.
