Beware of trending holiday scams.
With the holiday season comes a spike in scams. We’re here to help you spot the warning signs and help keep your accounts protected.
Here’s what to watch out for this season:
Phishing Emails and Texts
Scammers may try to send emails or texts pretending to be your bank, asking for personal details or prompting you to click on a link.
TIP: Never click on links in unsolicited messages. Instead, access links directly through the Five Star Bank website or app.
Fake Customer Support Calls
Scammers may call claiming to be from your bank, requesting personal information to “verify” recent transactions or to “confirm” your identity.
TIP: Hang up without providing any information and call us directly at 877.226.5578. Remember, Five Star Bank will never ask you for your login credentials or security codes.
Unusual Payment Requests
Fraudsters may pose as vendors, charities or even family members, asking for immediate payment via gift cards or wire transfers.
TIP: Always verify the request by reaching out directly using official contact information. If you’re ever in doubt, contact us directly at 877.226.5578.
Here to help.
